About "Trajan"

Trajan is an old-style serif typeface inspired by the letterforms of Roman square capitals chiseled into Trajan’s Column from ancient times.

Designed by Carol Twombly in 1989, it is based on classic Roman capitals during the time of Emperor Trajan with subtle curves opened for more fluid readability suited to modern designs.

Trajan's elegant, sturdy letterforms feature even serifs, vertical stress and classical proportions echoing the majestic capitalis monumentalis that has endured over two millennia and ancient Roman inscriptions.

Its header/display designs convey timelessness, strength and gravitas desirable for imparting heritage aesthetics across various branding designs, particularly in cultural institutions, universities, entertainment media or governmental signage systems.

Expanded over various weights and languages by Adobe, Trajan has become ubiquitous as a popular font to evoke classical elegance and formality associated with Greek and Roman antiquity across logotype and masthead typography especially in North America and Europe.

Original Adobe 파운드리

John Warnock and Chuck Geschke founded Adobe Systems in San Jose, California in 1982. The company turned into a billion-dollar business in 1999, thanks to its wide range of applications for images and text handling, as well as a high-quality type library. Their rise to prominence is largely due to the PostScript graphics programming language which has been a printing industry standard since the mid-1980s. Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop have been fundamental tools in the graphic design industry for many years. Adobe also introduced the PDF format for document exchange, another standard in the industry. In 1990, Adobe Type Manager (ATM) was launched, which allowed for on-screen font rendering.
