“TypeSETit’s founder, Robert Leuschke, mentioned in his Creative Characters interview that it’s vital as an artist to step out of their comfort zone. Situated just outside of St. Louis at the heart of the United States, Rob initiated his career by working with some of the top lettering artists in the business at Hallmark Cards. In regards to his time there, he states, “I began my stint in the Lettering Department in July of 1983, and that’s when my real learning about lettering happened.” He likens his experience at Hallmark Cards to being in graduate school but with pay, calling it “fantastic.” He shifted to freelancing as a graphic designer during the late 1980’s and found out that he could enhance his production of...
