DIN, a classic typeface with a century-old design, has always been a favorite choice, but its limitations in weights and widths held it back from broader use.
Recognizing the need for an update, DIN Next emerged as a versatile sans serif family that retains timeless appeal.
This modern essential encompasses seven weights, spanning from light to black, and includes matching italics and condensed variants for each weight.
Expanding on the original concept, four rounded designs have been added to enhance versatility.
DIN Next also incorporates small capitals, old style figures, subscript, superscript, and various alternate characters.
The original DIN design, rooted in 20th-century geometric shapes, was initially intended for traffic signs and technical documentation.
Akira Kobayashi's update introduced subtle changes, rounding off the once-squared corners to give the family a more human touch.
With over a century of history, the demand for DIN remains strong, and thanks to DIN Next, it's now as practical as it is desirable.
For perfect pairings, consider Agmena™, Bembo® Book, Cardamon™, Joanna® Nova, FF Quadraat®, and Quitador™.
