Font Bureau is a type design foundry established in 1989 by David Berlow, a type designer, and Roger Black, a media strategist. The foundry, located in Boston, MA, maintains a small team of full-time designers. Notable contributors to its library include Tobias Frere-Jones, Matthew Carter, Jim Parkinson, John Downer, Leslie Cabarga, Cyrus Highsmith, and David Berlow himself. Berlow, who has received the SoTA Award, credits the designers whose work Font Bureau publishes as his current instructors, stating in his Creative Characters interview that they have broadened his perspective on contemporary type-related matters.
