The type-design offshoot of Washington, DC-based Communication Visual is District. Galen Lawson, the designer, spent his childhood recreating 80s graffiti and the lettering of Super Bowl and World Series logos. With agency experience and his role as the creative director at ComVis, he aims to create unique and practical typefaces for designers on their day-to-day projects. He encourages feedback on how you're applying District typefaces in your work.

  • Desktop: This equivalence is aimed at both private and commercial use in desktop applications with a font menu. For instance, installation of the font on your Mac OS X or Windows system, utilization within desktop applications like Microsoft Word, Mac Pages, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, etc, the origination and printing of documents, or static images. The number of users defines the Desktop licenses.

  • App: This is applicable for embedding in iOS, Android, or Windows Phone apps where the font file is embedded in the application's code.

  • Digital Ad/Email: Appropriate for fonts embedded in HTML5 ads. A kit with webfonts will be provided to be utilized within digital ads and can be shared third parties assisting in creative production.

  • Webfont: Used on a single domain. A single webfont license cannot be shared across multiple websites by agencies in charge of multiple sites. In order to use in graphic images, consider a Desktop license. Offers three types of webfont licenses: Annual, Pay Once, and Pay As You Go.

  • Electronic Doc: Fit for embedding in e-text products such as an eBook, eMagazine, eNewspaper, or interactive PDF. License is based on the number of publications in which the font is used.
