The unusual and fascinating story started in 1873. Fast forward almost two centuries, Brian J. Bonislawsky was born, following in the mixed paths of his ancestors, he continued the traditions and established the Astigmatic One Eye Foundry, which later grew into the Astigmatic One Eye Typographic Institute. (More of the history can be seen in the Historical Perspective link below.) Since its establishment, Astigmatic has collaborated with numerous designers, aiding them in establishing their own foundries and improving the quality of type created by Astigmatic and these other foundries.
