Desktop: Serves for usage on a desktop workstation, being the most common application, both personal and professional. Can be utilized in desktop applications with a font menu such as Microsoft Word, Adobe Photoshop, Mac Pages etc. You can create and print documents, stationary images (.jpeg, .tiff, .png), however, restrictions may apply such as use in logos/trademarks, geographic restrictions (number of locations), and products that are sold.
Electronic Doc: Can embed the font in electronic publications like eBooks, interactive PDF, eNewspaper or eMagazine. The license depends on the number of publications where the font is applied. If the publication's version is updated and is free to previous customers, no new license is needed. For font usage in graphic images shown as the epub cover, a Desktop license is advised.
Digital Ad/Email: Appropriate for use in HTML5 ads. This type of license allows font embedding into digital ads, such as ads crafted using HTML5. Digital advertisements have different usage patterns compared to websites hence this license is often cheaper than a Webfont license.
Webfont: Limited to a single domain usage. Design agencies or hosting providers responsible for multiple websites cannot share a single Webfont license across multiple websites. Every time the webpage using the Webfont is loaded, it counts a single view for each webfont within the kit. For usage in graphic images shown on the website, Desktop license is recommended.
App: Chosen for when an app for iOS, Android, or Windows Phone is being developed, and the font file will be embedded in your mobile application's code.
